1. The Prism Model: This is a Model for bilingual
learners.
a. What does it represent? This model represents a
holistic (integrated, complete) way to learn.
b. What does it illustrate? This model illustrates each
four dimensions of this model: linguistic, academic, cognitive and
sociocultural dimension. It is said, students can’t learn if these dimensions are
not interrelated.

What is this Model’s heart? The heart of this
model is the sociocultural dimension, which includes or involves the academic development, the language development and cognitive development.
C.1 It includes that students must adjust to a
new country or city.
C.2 Students must adapt to a new
educational system.
C.3 Students must cope with the nuances of
the schools’ culture.
2. This Prim is close related to the
Socio – Emotional Development, the main idea is children’s development, in order to
allow them to interact with other children and adults, playing or interacting in
a conversation, and express their emotions (angry, happy, sad).
